TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- Tuscaloosa authorities say the man who tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend now faces murder charges.

Twenty-one-year-old Dwight Lewis faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

An 18-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man pulled up to a sheriff's patrol car near Copper Creek Apartments Dec. 11 around 11 p.m. and told the deputy that Lewis fired shots at their car.

Investigators found several bullet holes in the woman's driver side door. Later on, deputies located Lewis' car with a gun in the floorboard on MacFarland Boulevard and 37th Street.

Lewis was found behind a business. He is being held on an $85,000 bond.
