TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- The Tuscaloosa County Commission and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) have teamed up to improve a major highway.
A traffic study will look at Highway 69 from the Hale County line to I-20/59, including roads that intersect the highway.
Officials are researching ways to improve traffic on Highway 69 and will take into account residential development and future commercial growth.
"It's an extremely busy corridor and it needs to be studied and when we do address the problems on this corridor, we need to do this in a way that is comprehensive," Joh Copper, State Highway Director, said.
ALDOT will pay for the remainder of the study, which could take six to eight months to complete. Officials say work could begin within a year after that.
