TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- Charges have been upgraded against a man accused of killing his girlfriend's estranged husband.
William Mitchell now faces a capital murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Jeffrey Grant.
The shooting happened at a Cottondale home Saturday, Sept. 8. Grant was in Cottondale to attend a birthday party for his daughter. Mitchell allegedly forced his way into the home and shot Grant in the chest.
Authorities say they've upgraded the charges because when Mitchell allegedly forced his way through the door, that constituted a burglary.
